Blogging is a great way to expand your marketing strategy for your business. Some reasons to start a blog for your business include: to increase traffic to your business’s website, to establish yourself as an industry expert, or to have more content to share. Whatever the reason, It is important to the growth of your business to start a blog. Maybe you are thinking about starting a blog now or maybe you currently have a blog but you want to add some more liveliness to it. Whatever the reason, below are four tips to help take your blog from just okay to great.
1. Be Consistent
Don’t be inconsistent when blogging; for example, don’t post two articles one week and then nothing for the next month or two. Your blog will go stale if you are not consistently posting. Meaning, people will get tired of waiting, and eventually move on to someone who is posting consistently. Also, the more you blog, the easier it will be to continue blogging. With consistency comes all the benefits of blogging for your small business.
It is important to note that you don’t have to overwork yourself by trying to write blogs every day. After all, you have a business to run, and that should be your main priority. However, it is a good idea to try and create a blog schedule to keep you on track. Just remember, when you want to see success, consistency is the key. 2. Incorporate Visuals
Something simple that you can do to add that extra pep to your blog is adding images and even videos. Maybe on some posts, you can add an infographic or a chart that highlights key points from the blog post. Doing this adds a unique component to your blog posts. Many people retain information better when there is some type of visual element present. Honestly, sometimes it is easier to recall a picture than it is words on a page. Another benefit to incorporating visuals is that your audience will spend more time on your website because they have something to look at. You don’t have to incorporate a visual in every post but get creative with it and watch people gravitate to your blog more often.
3. Address Customer Questions
Answering customer questions is probably the best tip that I could give you. When your customers have questions about something related to your business, you can come up with blog topics to answer those questions. Addressing customer questions in the form of a blog post allows you to kill two birds with one stone. It allows you to elaborate on your answer; especially if it is a question that is continually asked. It also shows your customers that you truly care about taking the time to answer any concerns they may have.
4. Invite Guest Contributors
This tip is mostly for fun. Blogging is a very time-consuming thing, and sometimes you want to take a break for a week or maybe you just want a different point of view on your blog. This is when it is a good idea to invite a guest to contribute a blog post for your business. A fresh outlook on topics relating to your business can be enlightening, and you (as well as your customers) might gain a new perspective on things.
Another thing you could do is interview a leader in the field that you are in and write an article (or show a video) about that interview. This allows your audience to get a new perspective on topics relating to your business, and it also allows them to see that you are not too conceited to have someone else on your website.
These are just a few tips to take your business blog to the next level. Following these tips will show your customers that you do care about the content that you’re posting. There are plenty of other things you could do, just don’t forget that you know the business better than anyone. Remember to have fun with it and you will be great!
